GAIN SOME HEADSPACE: The Mindful Way
Many of us go about our days mindlessly until our thinking is taken over by worry. When you love someone with addiction it might be thoughts like: Why are they acting this way? Where are they? Are they drinking/doing drugs again? Are they ok? Why do they pick fights with me? What else can I do to help them? What if my boundaries are too rigid and something terrible happens? Your brain gets hijacked by thoughts like these.
Mindfulness is an ancient practice that moves from mindlessness and runaway thoughts of worry, concern and rumination to mindfulness and the distance between the thinking and the thought. What is interesting about mindfulness is that it is not just mediation; it isn’t about wiping your mind clear of thoughts. It’s not just relaxation - although it is calming, it’s not a pose in yoga.

THE REALITIES OF ADDICTION: Why You Must Advocate For Yourself
It is prevalent to misunderstand why or how other people become addicted to drugs or alcohol. It is common to think that those with addiction lack willpower or moral decision-making and that they could stop simply by choosing to stop. In reality, drug addiction is a very complex subject, and some would say a disease. Drugs and alcohol change the brain in ways that make quitting hard, even for those who want to. From the science, research, and professionals in their fields, the consensus is that some realities of addiction might offer you a degree of support when you love someone with an addiction. When you are armed with these realities, advocating for yourself, your healing and taking back your power becomes a priority.

A Life Worth Breathing: Breath your Way to Inner Calm
Spirituality or awakening has many benefits: We often go through life on autopilot without giving too much thought to who we are, what we want, or even why we are here. Stop and take notice of your breath. Breathing is a wonderful practice to help you tap into your spirituality and power. Awakening is about turning on a bright light in a previously dark room.

Making Self-Care Daily Habits: How tiny changes create remarkable results.
So why should we love and care for ourselves? Whether it’s going to your favourite spa, relaxing in a yoga class, or just allowing some time to rest in bed, ‘me time’ is something we require to rest and recharge, to take a pause, and to take stock of our lives mindfully. It is a beautiful support tool that we can use to grow, evolve, and expand who we are and ultimately makes us feel good about ourselves on all levels. Self-care is about actively using coping strategies and skills to improve our well-being to manage our lives better.
